Why is discrimination tolerated in our nation?
Introduction The pay gap in sports is tolerated because of the culture of sports. It is accepted to have a pay gap in sports because it has been used for decades as a recruiting tool. Sports teams value what elite athletes bring to the table, not just their skill sets on the field or court. It's easier for athletic directors to justify unequal compensation than it would be if they were faced with more equal pay, especially when there are already so many issues surrounding gender equality within organizations (such as unequal representation).
